Sound of metal(2020)

     Sound of metal is a 2020 American drama film co-written and directed by Darius marder starring Riz ahmed , Olivia cook and Paul raci as main characters.

The main character of the film is a drums player named Ruben. Ruben and his singer girlfriend Lui owns a music band. They live together in an RV travelling across the country performing gigs. Suddenly one day Ruben loses his hearing. He rushes to a pharmacy seeking a diagnosis. The pharmacist refers him a doctor, who performs a hearing test and finds out that Ruben can only hear 20-30% of words he hears and his hearing capacity will lose rapiddly. But there is a chance for getting his hearing back by doing a cochlear implant which is highly costly and which will not be covered by insurance. The doctor suggests him to eliminate all esposure to loud noises by not performing for a few weeks and later undergo a further testing. But refusing his doctor's advice, Ruben began to perform again abd completely loses his hearing.But Lui finds out about the condition of Ruben and stops him from performing again and takes him to a community  of deaf people runned by a man named Joe for counseling and training.

The life of Ruben at the community after he loses his hearing is the main plot of the story. 

Sound of metal is an emotional and realistic film which runs as a slow pace but not boring at all.

 The film beautifully shows us the life of deaf people and how they overcome their disabilities and live a better and happier life than the others. This film has so many deep meanings about life which you want to think about deeply after watching the film. For me, this film gave me a lot of valuable life lessons.

 The movie covers a significant topic. The loss of hearing has to be very difficult and stressful. The reality or the pain of the main character can actually be felt intensively by the viewer.  

The Sound designing of the film was the major factor which made the film so intense. It was being crafted as a soundtrack which was being felt like a sense of inner sound of the main character Ruben who lost his hearing. Huge kudos to the sound department.

 If we talk about the performance of the actors in this film. Riz ahmed truly deserves an oscar for his mind blowing performance in this film. His reactions were spot on when he realises that he lost his hearing and the way he handles his conditions were all truly amazing. One of the most important characters in the film was the guy named joe who runs the  community of deaf people. it was such a great character and actor Paul Raci did a great job playing it.

 Both of these actors are now nominated for the 93rd Academy Awards. and also Olivia cooke as Lui did a great job.

 The film has now received 6 Oscar nominations for Best picture, Best actor in a leading role, Best supporting actor, Best original screenplay, Film editing and sound. So there is a good chance that this film might get an Oscar.

  

The major positives of this film are:  

1. Riz ahmed's performance  

2. Sound designing  

3. Realistic characters.

 For me, Riz ahmed's performance was the main reason i loved the film. I am sure that he will become one of the best actor's in Hollywood. and also the realistic characters in this film which i feel connected to. 

2 hours is the runtime of the film. Sound of metal is an emotional and realistic ride with a bunch of great performances which gives you a lot of valuable life lessons.
