Carrie (1976)

"He's going to laugh at you, they're all going to laugh at you!"

I usually don't watch much horror films but this was one of the best horror experiences I've got in recent times.

Carrie is a 1976 American horror thriller film directed by Brian De Palma from a screenplay written by Lawrence D. Cohen, adapted from Stephen King's novel of the same name. Carrie was the first Stephen King novel to be published and the first to be adapted into a feature film.

The film tells us about the story of Carrie white, a 17 year old teenager who is being dominated by her religious fanatic mother and being constantly bullied and mocked by her highschool peers. Carrie discovers that she possesses telekinetic powers and puts her powers to use when she is humiliated.

The film is Captivating and engaging from the very beginning to the end. I am really impressed by the exceptional directorial skills of Brian de palma. Especially the scenes at the prom. It was so intense.

The major positives I've felt about this film are:

1) Acting:

The performance of Sissy spacek as Carrie white was literally amazing. I'll never forget that insanely creepy look on carries face.

2) Soundtrack:

The sound track was so great and creepy which made the scenes so intense and the sound effects were really great, felt like watching a Hitchcock film.

3) Lighting and color grading:

It had its own importance in making the film creepy and intense.

It's a film that released 45 years ago so don't expect the elements of a modern horror thriller. There is not much gore or violence like new horror films but it's still can be considered as one of the greatest horror films of all time.

"Overall, Carrie is a horror classic with Some terrifying soundtrack, creepy lights and some great performances." It deserves to be watched.
