Ma Rainey's Black Bottom(2020)

Ma Rainey's Black Bottom is a 2020 American drama film directed by George C Wolfe and written by Ruben Santiago Hudson based on a play by August Wilson.

I watched this film mainly because of two reasons:

1. This film was nominated for the Oscars

2. Chadwick Boseman's last film

But the film was nothing short of Amazing. It will make you laugh, cry and applaud at the same time.

The film tells us the story of the birth of blue music and the life of its creator Ma Rainey . The film was based on a real life drama/play.

The major positives in this film are:

*Performances of the actors

*Costuming, hair and makeup

*Direction

*Music

The first half gets pretty boring when the story of an era is presented in all its drama But the second half was just shockingly Amazing.

Viola Davis put on a career best performance with her acting and makeover. She was unrecognisable. The characters power and arrogance was brilliantly portrayed.

And

Chadwick Boseman immortalized his last film with great acting moments. His character was fun loving and had some emotional scarring from his childhood.

Both these actors was amazing and they gave performances that last a lifetime. They are 100% Oscar deserving.

The film got 5 nominations at the 93rd Academy awards including

Best actor

Best actress

Best production design

Best costume design

Best makeup and hairstyling


Ma Rainey's Black Bottom is a film which was made more emotionally intense by the performances of the actors

VERDICT: MUST WATCH

  “You and me are one, we’ve got each other!” Mother( madeo ) is a 2009 South Korean thriller film directed by Bong Joon-ho , starring Kim Hye- ja and Won Bin . The plot follows a mother who, after her intellectually disabled son is accused of the murder of a young girl, attempts to find the true killer to get her son freed.  Last year when i finished watching Darren Aronofsky’s film “Mother(2017)” which was one of the best films I watched that year, I came to know about this particular film of the same name from South Korea. When I checked it out I was surprised because it was a film directed by Bong Joon Ho who is one of my favorite directors around the world.
